The 4th of July is not the real birth of our nation.
07/02/1776: Congress approved that we would declare our independence.
07/04/1776: Congress approves the text of the declaration.
07/09/1776: all colonies adopt the Decleration.
08/02/1776: the Decleration is signed.
09/03/1783: the Treaty of Paris is signed and ends the Revolutionary War.
05/12/1784: the Treaty of Paris goes into affect. Thus, the United States is finally free of Britain.
People celebrating the 4th of July as the birth of our nation are sadly incorrect. We should be celebrating the day that we truly became free from Britain--May 12, 1784.
