We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Census Director John H. Thompson: Give unincorporated areas incorporated status.

Created by I.L. on November 17, 2016

Unincorporated areas are pockets of the population with no access to municipalities or local government. They are subject to county laws and regulations, and as such, residents often must travel unreasonable distances to even have a chance to have their voice heard by the government. Furthermore, Hawaii and guam are both completely comprised of unincorporated areas, making it impossible for residents to involve themselves in local government. We are urging the cooperation of the census bureau and Congress to resolve this issue by drafting legislation that grants all unincorporated areas incorporated status.
