On January 28th, a group of Northwestern athletes began the process of creating a labor union to represent college athletes
The College Athletes Players Association (CAPA) would provide college athletes with a voice that they currently lack in NCAA decisions that directly affect college athletes.
The CAPA's goals include:
1. Reduce college athletes injuries and create uniform safety standards.
2. Increase graduation rates and expand college athletes' rights
3. Prohibit universities from using a permanent injury suffered during athletics as reason to reduce a scholarship
We ask that the White House endorse the CAPA and ask the NLRB to certify the College Athletes Players Association.
