In light of yet another mass shooting, perhaps the dialogue should be about how we can set up affordable (free when possible) and easy to access mental health services so that troubled people can get help instead of guns.
I am NOT a gun person. I do NOT support the gun lobby. But perhaps it is time to change the conversation from trying to control guns to instead expand our mental health services -- especially for parents when they see possible signs that concern them in their children.
What if the NRA invested the money they use to support and defeat politicians into setting up financial support for therapeutic camps and schools for young people who are struggling, if we saved one person from becoming a mass murdered, then the money would be better spent.
