champion a national discussion on the topic of term-limits, for the purposes of considering a constitutional convention.

Created by S.L. on November 08, 2011

The premise behind term-limits is that through a successful constitutional amendment process, the law of the land would establish additional checks and balances to prevent political entrenchment, and make corruption through lobbyist campaign contributions more difficult, since elected officials would be limited to a single term of a specified period of time. It is better to deny a few public servants re-election to office, than to allow many corrupted self-interested politicians to return. Public service should not be a career, whereby public security and trust becomes a concern. One benefit to not having incumbents, is that voter participation would necessitate the familiarity of each new candidate.

The purpose of this petition is only to promote a national discussion on the topic.
