Change the 13th amendment. Abolish slavery in America even if the person has been convicted of committing a crime.

Created by S.B. on October 22, 2014

This petition is to remove the phrase "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted," from the 13th amendment to the United States constitution. Our country never abolished slavery, they privatized it in our prison system and this petition is meant to stop it. The war on drugs is designed to stock our prison system with American citizens and force them into servitude in their factories. This petition will force the closure of these factories, remove the profit margin from our bloated prison system, and stop these corporations from ruining the lives of American citizens so they can make a few extra dollars. These factory jobs should be given to free American citizens and they should be paid a living wage to perform these jobs.
