change 1989 Lautenberg amendment to allow Russian Jews to apply for refugee status without direct relatives living in US

Created by D.B. on March 30, 2015

We are calling on everyone who cares about the lives of the Jewish people who are currently residing in the lands of the former Soviet Union, to use all legal means available in the United States of America, to bring the necessary changes to the Lautenberg amendment to allow any person of the Jewish decent to apply for refugee status without having direct relatives living in the United States of America.

We also request that the time frame for evaluating refugee status requests under Lautenberg Amendment is no more that a couple of months, instead of the current time frame of two to three years.
