Andrew Jackson is on our $20 bill. While President he continued & renewed the political & military effort for the removal of Native Americans, including Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw, from their homelands in southeastern parts of the United States to Indian Territory in eastern sections of the present-day state of Oklahoma with the passage of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Many died, including 60,000 of the 130,000 Cherokee, in the forced relocation known as the "Trail of Tears." In recognition of the contributions of Native Americans & women in the US, we propose that Andrew Jackson should now be replaced on the $20 with Pocahontas or another woman in US history, such as Susan B. Anthony or Rosa Parks, who represents the diversity & strengths of the U.S.
