Change Age of Consent To Protect Teenagers: Currently Minnesota law does not protect our minors from older predators.

Created by S.C. on January 26, 2014

My Propose changes…
1. A minimum cap on the age of consent, to be 24 months. This would provide a parent and the child the right to protection under Minnesota Statute 609.345 against anyone who would engage in sexual relations with a minor and is over 24 months over the child's age (example: a 16 year old could have sex with an 18 year old but not a 19 year old; a 17 year old could have sex with a 19 year old but not a 20 year old.). OR change the consent age to 18. This would only clarify the age of consent for minors from 16 to 18.
