The age requirement to receive financial assistance for college from the government without having to enter your parents information should be lowered. In order to receive federal financial aid for college without entering your parents information into the FAFSA you must be at least 24 years old. This is based upon the assumption that your family will help pay for your college. That assumption is nice in theory but the reality is that most young people are not from families wealthy enough to provide monetary assistance past the age of 18. It would be rare for a "child" to be living at home at the age of 24, if you're living on your own, paying your own rent then you should be allowed to use your own income to determine your eligibility for financial aid! Lets make college a possibility!
