Change America's animal symbol from an Eagle to a Bear

Created by B.L. on February 18, 2013

Ever wonder why the Bald Eagle is America's animal icon? Rome used it as a symbol for leadership, power, and all-seeing wisdom. When the United States was first created, the founding fathers idolized the Roman republic and wanted to imitate their society.

Now, I say let us break these bonds of conformity and establish a meaningful symbol that represents the United States and it's people! The Bear is a powerful, perceptive, and caring animal that is not afraid to face it's foes. Its priority is protecting and providing for its cubs, thus the Bear represents a country that cares unequivocally for its own kind and is cunning to the point that it will outsmart and overpower its enemies.

The Bear is the perfect American symbol, and should replace the unoriginal Roman Eagle.
