This new regulation (AR-670-1) is trying to discriminate against military members on the basis of tattoos, amongst other things. Tens of thousands of Soldiers fought in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars; some of whom were injured physically or mentally, and some that never made it back at all.
Tattoos were good enough then to fight for our freedom, but now Soldiers will be denied the career and lifestyle they have grown accustomed to because of their freedom of expression. I have never known a tattoo to hinder a Soldier's ability to fight and stand up for our freedom, but now thousands of Soldiers may be discharged because they chose to take advantage of that freedom to express themselves. It is appalling, and I hope that the US Army will reconsider this issue. Yes, the US Army is a professio
