With all the devastation from the storms this spring and from previous years, it's a wonder that all the new communities don't have storm shelters. The truth is that there are no safety requirements including severe weather. For areas that are at-risk like texas and Oklahoma as well as other states in the tornado alley, there should be construction requirements that include storm shelters for all new homes for the safety of the homeowner. Also, the option should include an entrance from inside the home in case exiting the home is impossible.
