To change the C.F.R. 20 U.S.C.. § 1087ll (13) Cost of attendance for law student to included bar prep expenses and COL.
Currently law students are allowed to barrow three years of money and living expenses from federal loans. However, law students are on their own for the two months they have to prep for the bar exam. Also they can not get the Bar prep course are not allowed in federal student loans.
The government allows to barrow $75K to $250K to go to law school but we will not allow them to barrow another $5K to $15K to successfully pass the bar exam, so they can get jobs as attorneys and repay their student loans.
Currently the private bar loan and medical residency loans are very difficult to get and a large number of students are being denied loans.
This needs to be changed.
