Childhood cancers are very unique to children in how they develop, effects of treatment, types specific to only children. Funding and support for Childhood Cancer and CURE research for children is grotesquely under funded as are statistics for rate of occurrence, death and overall survival rate. Children are unique in the world of cancer and often end up with secondary cancers and lifelong health effects leading to permanent disabilities, strain on families and a wealth of other issues.
We are asking that the month of August be given to Childhood Cancer Awareness instead of September. Please give children a month to themselves, just as their cancers are unique to them. Thank you.
