We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Change Christopher Columbus Day to Indigenous People's Day.

Created by J.L. on October 15, 2016

As someone who has Native American blood running through my veins, as well as thousands more in our nation, I feel that the man who caused so much grief for our peoples should no longer have a recognized holiday. I propose that it be changed to Indigenous People's Day and become a nationally recognized holiday just as Columbus day once was. We deserve this recognition after all we have been through. Not a man that brought on one of the most unspoken genocides in the world. Please help bring this petition to light and take this man's recognition away as well as the yearly reminder of what this man caused to all of our ancestors.
