Every year we celebrate Columbus Day. Honoring Christopher Columbus's discovery of America in 1492.
This holiday should not be celebrated because
1.) He committed atrocities against humanity. He killed and enslaved Natives. Beginning a genocide killing 100 million natives.
2.) Christopher Columbus did not discover America. There were already people living in the Americas.
3.) He never landed on American soil. He landed on what is today the Bahamas.
We are asking that Columbus Day be changed to Exploration Day to honor the United States' spirit of exploration, and to acknowledge the exploration of new frontiers on the planet earth, and in outer space, as well as the exploration of science, mathematics, and engineering.
