change the Columbus Day federal holiday to a federal holiday recognizing Native Americans.

Created by B.B. on October 07, 2015

It is time to do something to honor and respect the people that were on this land long before it was ever settled, colonized, and before this country was founded. In truth, we are mostly a nation of immigrants....either by choice of our ancestors, or by force upon our ancestors. But what of those people whose ancestors were already here? The holidays of Columbus Day and Thanksgiving - in essence - celebrate the taking of their land. I say, lets give back. Americans talk about how important the Native American culture is, but we don't show it. Let change that. I say, lets make the October federal holiday one that celebrate Native American culture and heritage. Let our actions match our words, for once.
