Christopher Columbus was not an American Hero.
When Columbus arrived in the new land, he was greeted by tribes of natives who had settled here hundreds, if not thousands, of years before him. America did not need to be discovered, it was already successfully inhabited.
According to historians, Columbus enslaved these natives to work in his gold mines. He literally worked them to death and tortured those who would not cooperate. One hundred natives committed mass suicide rather than give in to his tyranny.
Young girls were sacrificed for the perverted pleasures of his crew.
This day should be reserved to honor those who welcomed him, fed him, and suffered at his hands. Native Americans are the heroes who settled this land, providing us with rich soil on which to built a great nation.
