Christopher Columbus should not be celebrated. His actions decimated indigenous populations and he was a cruel tyrant, a poor sailor, and a slaver. The day should be rededicated to the natives who suffered because of his actions and serve to help broaden knowledge and understanding of the various cultures that made up this country before European conquest.
