Change Columbus Day to a national holiday honoring Native Americans instead.

Every year on the second Monday of October the nation observes Columbus Day celebrating the discovery of the Americas however the Americas were long discovered before then. The Discovery of the Americas by the Europeans resulted in the slaughter of countless Native Americans through slavery, war and diseases.
This petition is to change the name "Columbus Day" from one that insults Native Americans and the deaths of their ancestors to a day that instead honors their existence on this nation before the arrival the Europeans and offers gratitude to them in exchange for the services and food they provided to the first settlers.
