Together as a nation we should no longer pay homage to Christopher Columbus an explorer who contributed to the genocide of Native Americans. As a nation we should protect the indigenous culture and embrace our history whether it was good or bad. By changing the holiday we are giving respect to a forgotten history. Future generations need to learn the truth and understand the culture for what it truly is. Let's change the federal holiday of Christopher Columbus Day to Indigenous People's Day.
