The average pay our federal representatives is around 150,000 a year - which is well above the payscale of the average citizen.
In a time in which the American public is in monumental debt, is it really smart for us to be throwing millions away annually on people who barely do any work?
If we want to start budget cuts, heres the first step. Force all Congressmen, House Reps, the President, and his Cabinet to take the federal minimum wage. This will flush out career politicians and bring in real statesmen.
And second, it'll show our lawmakers just how impossible it is to survive off of minimum wage alone. Theres no reason people should have to bust their buns for minimum wage 60+ hours a week, while these guys get 100k salaries + benefits at our expense.
