Recently the Federal Appeals court ruled in Oracles favor over Google stating that they owned the rights to the Java API syntax. This greatly impedes the software industry and destroys the very foundations of software languages. We need you and Congress pass new legislation to clarify the software copyright laws so that API syntax cannot be copyrighted.
Early on in the industry a language used the same API syntax. That allowed companies to compete in writing better compilers making software faster, more robust and portable. This was true for C, Fortran, Cobol, Lisp, ADA, etc.
We need this to continue. You can own the code but not the syntax. Change the software copyright laws to overturn this ruling.
