I am a Ukrainian living in Australia. In Ukraine it has been too much of the war already. It doesn’t matter who exactly - the rebels or the Kiev’s military - shot the MH17 causing passengers’ deaths. The core of the problem is the war there.
Think: Chechen wars occurred through the 1990th. In May 2000, Putin announced that Chechnya would be governed federally. Further Putin proposed a referendum in Chechnya to revise constitution. The new constitution permitted to have autonomy and an elected government. No more wars in Chechnya. Currently they are fond of Russia.
Instead of pushing the Kiev’s authorities into the oppressive operations against the people of the Eastern regions, who simply want to be left alone, the US should encourage democracy and human rights to be observed by Kiev.
