Change the criminal justice system so that non-violent offenders are not marked for the rest of their lives.

Created by F.R. on February 11, 2013

I seek the change the legal system so that an individual's criminal record is like a credit score, meaning so long as they are non-violent offenders, a person would be able to have their record expunged, provided that they are able to keep out of trouble for a period of say 7-10 years. I imagine that if you are a person who has committed a crime, even after you have paid your debt to society, you are ultimately faced with the burden of being marked for life. This can effect ones ability to get a decent paying job or obtain assistance for education and vocational training. Without some of these basic tools, I feel as if we are ultimately pushing a lot of people to return to a life of crime out of a sense of frustration, and hopelessness with their post incarceration prospects.
