Current auto insurance law only requires the payment of the market value of the "totalled" accident victim's car, which is usually much lower than the actual cost of replacing it with a comparable car, as I discovered when my car was rear-ended by another driver. The insurance company can use their own secret "calculations" to determine "market value", which turned out to be $2000 less than it will cost me to find a comparable car to replace the one I lost through no fault of my own! This is a big hardship for my family as we have a modest middle class income and hope to send 2 kids to college, so it must be a HUGE hardship for struggling single parents and out-of-work folks! Stop adding insult to injury for innocent accident victims! Thank you, President Obama, for this forum!
