Change the date of Independence Day from the Fourth of July to the First Friday of July

Created by K.Q. on June 23, 2013

The Fourth of July is traditional and everybody knows this date as a celebration of our independence. However, on the odd years where it falls on a Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday it seems a waste of a holiday. Slammed in the middle of a stressful work week, 24 hours of freedom from the work place seems like barely enough time to celebrate the one thing that makes us different from every other country on earth, our independence and freedom. How is one expected to honor our nations biggest celebration in one day, only to be in bed early for a 5AM wake up for work the following morning? Having Independence Day celebrated on the First Friday of July will give all Americans plenty of time to party, relax, and paint the town red white and blue, without having to stress over work.
