DEA rules issued in 2010 requiring two factor identification for the transmitting of prescriptions for scheduled drugs electronically is clearly unreasonable. The unreasonableness of the rule may be measured by the number of pharmacies that have failed to comply with the DEA requirements within the time frame estimated by the overly optimistic experts at DEA. The DEA also estimated that it would take years for all pharmacies and doctors to adopt the DEA standards. Meanwhile doctors are having to write manual prescriptions for scheduled drugs though all other prescriptions are being transferred electronically. We need to use the technology we have in place today to save lives today. Change the DEA rules to match what is being used on Medicare now. Two factor identification will have to wait
