As policy currently stands, a candidate for the Democratic Party's nomination to run for President of the United States of America is not guaranteed to be awarded delegate totals in various states according to the proportion of the vote he/she drew. Thus, a candidate with fewer votes may win more delegates. We feel that this invalidates the voice of the people, and invalidates their right to cast ballots in favor of their chosen candidate. A party has a responsibility towards its constituents, to serve the people who cast ballots for the person they believe best represents the interests of the people. We feel strongly that the current procedure of awarding delegates without considering the voice of those who cast ballots, doing their civic duty as citizens of this nation must change.
