change Election Day to always coincide with Veterans Day (November 11th)

Created by A.L. on November 11, 2014

Election Day is not a national holiday. It is always on a Tuesday. This makes it difficult – if not impossible – for many to make it to the polls.

Our national calendar has a lot of holidays. Adding another could place undue burdens on the public and private sectors.

Voting is core to our democracy. More than anything, our soldiers have defended this freedom which defines our nation.

Thus, in order to increase voter turnout, to not add another holiday to our national calendar, and to further honor the men and women of our country who have defended our individual right to have a voice in the governance of our nation, let us make it a policy that federal and state elections shall be held on November the 11th, coinciding with Veterans Day, no matter which day of the week it shall fall.
