We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Change the election day to be on a weekend day and declare the election day a national holiday.

Created by M.B. on November 08, 2016

In America voting is historically has been done on a Tuesday. This tradition was set in 1845 to accommodate the farmers to be able to vote as they required a day to go to the polls and the carriages where only available on weekdays. Today this is not the case. Tuesday is work day for the majority of Americans and most of us drive.

Democracy is better exercised with more of the citizens participating in it. Moving the election to a day that is recognized as non-working day would give people more chance to go and vote.

Most of us have to take off from our jobs to go vote. Some of us work so far away from our houses that its a choice between a day lost at a job or voting. Both are rights we citizens want to exercise.

Support this petition and let The congress hear our voice.
