As a norwegian watching the US election it is clear that the two party system has gone past its expiration date. However, even if both parties were to collapse, nothing would truly change because the underlying system will always produce two parties. I therefore wish for the White House to consider the following:
1: Remove the midterm election. This reduces the need for campaigning, thus lessens monetary influence.
2: Combine congressional districts for pooled voting blocks. In essence, copy the parlamentary election system of Norway, and use it for congress. (it really works, we often rank #1 on democracy indexes)
3: Some variation of the alternative vote for single seat elections. Something akin to the French Presidential election, a point system, or some combination of the two.
