Under the current “winner take all” system if a state votes 48% for one candidate and 52% for the other candidate, all electoral votes go to the candidate with the 52% of the vote. This means that the votes of 48% of the citizens of that state are basically disregarded. This is not a fair for those citizens and is actually a suppression of that vote.
We should go to a "congressional district method”. (like Maine and Nebraska) selecting one elector within each congressional district by popular vote and selecting the remaining two electors by a statewide popular vote.
Many will argue that this is a state issue; however the current system is in reality a suppression of the vote and is a federal issue. Just as the Feds are involved in state voter ID laws, they should get involved with this
