The Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration modified the requirements for an airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate with an airplane category multiengine class rating and the requirements to serve as a pilot for a Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 119 certificate holder authorized to conduct operations under 14 CFR part 121. This changed the requirements for a co-pilot operating under part 121 to have 1500 hours of flight time, up from 250 hours.
This is going to hurt the aviation industry tremendously over the next years. This makes it very difficult for pilots to begin a career with any regional airline. Already, many airlines are hurting.
