Change The Federal Holiday Of Columbus Day To Native American Day.

A petition to end the recognition of the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus and the resulting effects on the indigenous populations and rename it Native Americans Day to honor said populations and as a sign of atonement for the atrocities committed against them. While this gesture will by no means make up for the eradication of several tribes, the forced re-locations, and the blatant stealing of native lands for exploitation of their resources, it will go far to show that Native Americans are Americans as well and should be recognized for the struggles they have and continue to survive.
