Change the federally regulated nurse to patient ratio in nursing homes to provide better care.

Created by B.D. on April 01, 2013

Change the federally regulated nursing home nurse to patient ratio to 1 nurse to every 5 patients during the day and 1 to 15 during the night. The current federal regulations to nursing home staffing were created in 1980 and needs to be updated considering the raise in elderly people who need care in nursing homes. Most states have higher standards for nursing homes than the federal regulation but not every state has additional standards. Every nursing home in America needs adequate amount of staffing to create acceptable environment for our elderly and chronically ill.
