Change the Food Stamp Program to allow only nutritious foods to be purchased. Use the Women, Infants, Children standard

Created by E.A. on February 01, 2014

Persons who receive Food Stamp benefits buy soda, chips, cakes and other non-nutritional items. This leads to obesity, high blood pressure and a myriad of other health problems. The Medicaid program usually is saddled with the increased cost of medical problems caused by poor nutrition. There is already in place a program WIC that identifies those foods that are healthy and allows participants to "purchase" only those items. Food Stamp benefits should be similarly restricted. NO American should be hungry. However, if a person chooses poor nutrition, that person should have to pay for it from his pocket, not the Federal budget.
