In 2012 seven thousand students dropped out of high school each day in America. 26 percent of students in the US fail to complete their high school education. It is an epidemic that must be controlled before we loose more jobs and businesses to other countries that have more knowledge in critical business areas. Rising the dropout age to 18 is a good start and is something that needs to be implemented in all states. Someone younger than 18 shouldn’t have the right to make such a life changing decision on their own. I think through awareness and motivation we can help skew the numbers for a better society tomorrow. The consequence of not completing high school is severe and is reflected in the irresponsible choices kids are making today.
