Change the law and allow armed Reserve service members to guard recruiting stations in exchange for student loan credits

Created by D.B. on July 28, 2015

There are many loyal and responsible Americans willing and able to stand guard over our service members. However, it may be unwise for this duty to fall to the civilian populous. The safety of service members while at home is of the utmost importance and something must be done in the wake of Chattanooga. Arguably, the Posse Comitatus Act recognizes a valid threat to the country. Therefore, it should not be overturned. However, there is no group more suited to providing security and protection than properly trained military personnel. Using active duty members seems wasteful but the armed services do maintain a large number of Reservists, many of whom are struggling with student debt. This petition proposes to allow those Reservists to volunteer for additional duty for credit on that debt.
