18 year olds should be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages without prosecution by the law.
The average 18 year old can die for his/her country as a part of the armed forces. 18-year-olds are also considered mature enough to vote for our national leaders as well as move out of the house and/or have sex. Most 18-year-olds have also been driving for about 2 years, or are considered able to drive responsibly. By this point, they will also have taken multiple government-mandated "health classes" through their middle school or high school. Therefore, they know the risk of drinking alcohol.
