Change The Length Of The School Year For Students

Created by J.P. on August 31, 2016

The school year length is unrealistic and is detrimental to the development and readiness of students for life after school. 185 days of school a year spread over 11 months breeds an unfocused student who is living for the weekends, instead of focusing on assignments. Many kids I know are under huge amounts stress that can lead to social and academic issues. Recently in my home state of Maryland, Larry Hogan, our current governor, puts profits in outer counties above the future of young children who live in his state. He decided that school can not end later then July 15th, and start any earlier then Labor day weekend effectively shortening needed breaks. While I already had issue with the length of the school it is now unacceptable. That is why I am calling for shortening the school year.
