Change Martin Luther King Jr Day to Civil Rights Day

Created by J.C. on December 30, 2012

In the honor of all who have strived, served and suffered to protect civil rights we ask that Martin Luther King Jr Day be changed to Civil Rights Day. Women, Native Americans, African Americans, Gays, and all other social groups deserve civil rights equally.

The celebration should not imply any specific group has priority in the pursuit of equal rights.

We should celebrate all that have given to improve human rights. No other American holiday honors specifically one person. Although Mr King Jr put his heart into his work, so many others paved the way so he could be effective. No one person should be solely credited with the achievements of all the civil rights advocates.

Please honor ALL who have contributed to equal rights.
