change medical disqualifications for the armed forces to allow those with peanut allergies to serve

Peanut allergies affect millions of Americans. Each year, peanut allergies become more widespread. The military currently lists food allergies including those to peanuts as a disqualification for service. However, only a few simple steps need to be taken to make service for those affected possible and safe. By labeling when food is cooked in peanut oil or with peanut products, service-members with allergies can stay away from food that would cause a reaction. Not cooking with peanut oil and marking dog tags of those affected would also help. Those with the allergies are capable of exemplary service and should be allowed to join all branches of the armed forces. We ask that the administration make the adjustments needed so that men and women with allergies can still serve their country
