Congress should change the name of the "Defense Department" back to the "War Department". The name "defense" promotes a "victim" mentality.
In reality, we have waged war on other nations, whether for misguided reasons or not, far more often than we have had to defend our own. Words have powerful effects. Calling it the defense department futher enables the citizenry to be frightened into believing that there is always something from which we should be defended, something we should fear. Calling it the War Department, would keep it in the forefront of the thoughts of the American citizenry further raising conciousness of potential consequences of actions waged by this department.
We aren't victims/potential victims who should be made to fear so that government can have its way
