In the wake of yet another acquittal of another killer cop, it is hard to tolerate the doublespeak of law enforcement and the courts calling themselves part of the "Justice system." Clearly there is no justice when a homicide is dismissed without any accountability. The system did not do what was just, but what was legal.
In the names of all the Black lives taken by the state, all the poor who could not afford adequate legal help, all the mentally ill and drug addicted locked up instead of receiving treatment and in the shadows of for-profit prisons cropping up to incarcerate more of us, we ask that the US drop the charade of claiming this is a land with "Justice for All" and simply admit that the laws reflect the values of the elites who wrote them.
