In recognition of every United States citizen who have serviced and sacrificed for the cause of Civil Rights that include all the Civil Rights not only racial equality but Women's Rights, Voting Rights, and economic equality. Dr. King is an important figure in U.S. history but his dream about equality was more than the man. It took a nation from those that suffered the injustices to those that changed laws to protect against injustices. Civil Rights Day would serve to remind everyone that the fight against injustice from racial profiling, gender pay differences, immigration, and other civil rights issues of our day that need leaders like Dr. King of today to continue to the fight to fulfill his dream.
