After seeing some of the recent panoramic photographs from the Mars Rover, it's clear that we may have misnamed this great celestial body. That is why we are petitioning the White House to consider leading the charge in a proposed renaming of the planet Mars to the planet Tatooine.

It's time to renew our explorer spirits, and inspire a new generation of American children to dream big and go farther. In bearing such a striking resemblance to George Lucas's fictional planet Tatooine, Mars deserves this name change consideration and could potentially ignite popular culture in renewed interest in space exploration.
