The current National Minimum Drinking Age is 21 which if a State does not conform their Federal aid for highways is cut. Currently however 18 year olds are allowed to live on their own, join the military, drive a car, and smoke tobacco. All of which can be seen as equally or more dangerous than that of drinking alcohol. Yet 18 year olds are not legally allowed to drink alcohol( except in some states where they may under parental supervision). The drinking age should be lowered to 18, and 16 with parental supervision including adding more education to the dangers of drinking more then in moderation. If an 18 year old is allowed to sign their life away to the military they should at the very least be allowed to legally drink with their family.
