Change ordinances limiting what can be grown on private property

In many states and cities across the nation, city ordinances are limiting what a homeowner can grow on their own property. With vague descriptions such as "nuisance vegetation" and "suitable landscaping" the cities are making it nearly impossible for individual homeowners to grow fruit and vegetable gardens in their own front yards. With the growing cost of fresh produce, and the increasing urge to decrease the nation's carbon footprint, many people are turning to cultivating their own food crops, but vague city ordinances are allowing for many city officials to levy a fine of $500 a day against individuals trying to ease the pain of high costs of food. This doesn't stop in one city. This happens nation wide. This has got to change.
